2019  Don S. Williams Grant

PURPOSE
This annual cash grant is intended to assist emerging and established North and West Vancouver artist(s) of all ages who are interested in developing their practice.

GRANT
Funds for this grant are generated through the investment income earned from the FANS Endowment.   Average grants in years past have totaled $5000- $6,000. The FANS Society is pleased to announce a special donation received from the former Friends of the Ferry Building Society. This new funding will allow FANS to provide an addition grant of $2,500 per year, for the next four years. FANS anticipates a similar Budget for 2019.

CATEGORIES
Applicants may apply for support under one of the following categories:    

Artistic Production: Supports the creation of new artwork being produced with the goal of eventual public presentation. (Exhibition or performance).

Marketing Development: Supports the development of an artist’s career. This may include the creation of marketing materials and/or other tools to help promote their work, skills or creative services. Examples of eligible activity include: website development, portfolios, social networks, music recording, video recording, etc.

Artistic Research or Professional Development: Supports independent research at a key time in the artistic practice of the applicant. The proposed activity must demonstrate the capacity to advance or expand the artist’s practice. Examples of eligible activity: educational course, artist mentorship, arts conference, specialized research, etc.

Other: Individual artists may be interested in support for creative activity that does not fit into one of the above noted categories. Artists in this situation may submit an application but must elaborate on the specifics of the artistic work and the outcomes for which they seek funding assistance.

 ELIGIBILITY

  1. Artists must be currently active in their particular discipline and intend to continue developing their practice pursuing a future in that discipline.

  2. Applicants must be residents of North or West Vancouver or have the majority of their creative work take place there.

  3. Proposed projects should require no longer than one year to complete.

  4. FANS Society Board Members and all families thereof are not eligible to apply.

ADJUDICATION
The Adjudication Panel will carefully review each application taking into consideration the following:

  1. Compliance with the eligibility criteria.

  2. Documentation of the applicant’s most recent artwork (digital photos, recordings, etc.). Send to: fansawards@gmail.ca

  3. Funding request, projected goals, and anticipated outcomes.

Please note that all applications are taken under consideration at the same time.

 APPLICATION PROCEDURE:

  1. Complete the application form.

  2. Provide documentation of recently completed artwork (digital photos, recordings, writing, etc.).

  3. Include both reference forms completed and signed.

Successful applicants will be requested to report back on their project upon completion with a brief project summary and photo documentation if applicable. In addition, please be aware that FANS has the ability to promote your project to our Facebook followers.  Just send us your updates and/or links and we will be happy to share your information.
